SPF, which is an acronym for Sender Policy Framework, is an email protection system, that is designed to verify if an email message is sent by an authorized server. Using SPF protection for a given domain name will stop the faking of emails created with the domain. In layman's terms: activating this feature for a domain name generates a specific record in the Domain Name System (DNS) containing the IP of the servers that are allowed to send e-mails from mailboxes under the domain. As soon as this record propagates worldwide, it will exist on all DNS servers that route the Internet traffic. Whenever some email message is sent, the initial DNS server it goes through tests whether it originates from an accredited server. When it does, it is sent to the destination address, yet if it does not come from a server listed in the SPF record for the particular domain, it's rejected. In this way nobody will be able to mask an e-mail address to make it appear as if you are e-mailing spam. This technique is also identified as email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Shared Website Hosting

SPF protection can be enabled for any domain hosted in a shared website hosting account on our cloud hosting platform with only a couple of clicks. The function is available in the Emails section of our leading-edge Hepsia Control Panel and all you need to use it is to select one of your domains from the drop-down list and type in the hostnames plus the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the e-mail servers that will be certified to send email messages from your emails. As an additional option you can even restrict the e-mails to be sent from your domain only if it includes our MX records, in other words if our servers manage the emails for it, not a third-party provider. This solution will give you the highest standard of security, but it's not applicable if only your web site is on our servers while your e-mail addresses for the domain name are managed elsewhere. Regardless, the SPF protection service will keep your email addresses secure from being used for spam or scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The SPF protection attribute is provided with all semi-dedicated hosting, so in case you host your domain names in an account on our cloud web hosting platform, you're able to use this service easily for all your domain names. The Hepsia Control Panel, which is provided with the semi-dedicated accounts, has a very intuitive interface, therefore you don't need to be proficient in the use of computers in order to secure your emails. You'll simply have to type the hostname and the IP of each mail server that you would like to be allowed to send out emails from your addresses and immediately after that the updated record will be activated for the domain that you have chosen. As an additional option, we also give you the ability to limit your outgoing e-mail messages and secure your mailboxes even better by permitting emails to be sent only if the domain name involved includes our MX records i.e. the e-mail messages for the domain name need to be taken care of here and not by some other provider. Doing so you'll enjoy even superior control and there will not be any chances for someone to forge your email addresses for malicious objectives.
